Crist Calls Rubio “Absurd!” regarding counting illegals.
Republican US Senate candidate Marco Rubio told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that illegal immigrants should not be counted in the Census. This puts him in direct opposition to Republican Gov. Charlie Crist who is running against Rubio.
Yesterday, Crist immediately gave a statement, calling Rubio’s position “Absurd.”
“Florida deserves to have her fair share. And I think making sure that we count every single Floridian is vitally important” Crist said.
The debate centers around whether counting the illegal immigrants is needed to for Florida to receive its “equal share” of federal money. It may also affect the number of US House seats.
However, the elephant in the room is “Federal Money” and states rights. When did it become a contest of States on receiving Federal funds? Part of the tea party movement is “Limited Constitutional Government.” We as the tea party need to promote ideas such as the Tenth Amendment which puts power back to the states.
