Healthcare = Bribes, Bullying, Extortion

bully
In the liberal world view, there is no problem so small or localized that the Federal Government can’t or shouldn’t create an agency to regulate and educate the public about how to solve it. In fact, with the complicity of left wing politicians, US Schools seem to have been hijacked and put to use for nearly every purpose except education.

Based on the idea that whatever a liberal politician claims he plans to do, you should expect the opposite, there is no surprise that liberal Senators have made copious use of the techniques of bribery, extortion, and bullying to accomplish their goal of a government takeover of health care.

Flexing their muscles like a school yard pugilist, Senate Democrats this week stooped to third world and eastern bloc techniques to impose their political will on their colleagues, leaving a permanent stain on the United States Senate, once one of the most revered bastions of democracy in the civilized world.

“We’re scared,” said one senior at a rally in Omaha Nebraska, “we don’t know who to turn to.  We feel like the insurance companies and the special interests can just stamp ’sold’ on Senator Nelson.”

Democrat Giveaways
Cash for cloture In exchange for his cloture vote, Nebraska Senator Nelson got the sweetheart deal of the year. The federal government will dom something for Nebraska that it does for no other state — Nebraska’s expanded Medicaid program will now be fully funded by the federal government FOREVER.
Other special Medicaid payoffs While New England states Massachusetts and Vermont did not get quite the same deal as Nebraska, they also got extra federal help for an anticipated crowd new Medicaid enrollees, leaving the state of New York feeling particularly abused, as NY Governor Patterson and NYC Mayor Bloomber expect that up to a 1 million New Yorkers will sign up for Medicaid once reforms are complete.
$100 million for Connecticut Hospital While not targetted specifically at Senator Chris Dodd (D-Con), the language of the Bill makes it pretty clear no other state meets the requirements. The hospital provision is included in a 383 page packet of changes, submitted by Senate leader Harry Reid, just a day before the cloture vote. The bill provides $100 million for “a health care facility that provides research, inpatient tertiary care, or outpatient clinical services,” and it must be affiliated with an academic health center at a public research university in the United States “that contains a State’s sole public academic medical and dental school.”
Medicare Advantage The bill contains special Medicare Advantage protections for New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
The Louisiana Purchase The state of Louisiana received an extra $300 million in exchange for the help of Louisiana Senator Mary L. Landrieu in bringing the health care bill to the Senate Floor.
