I am so proud that we have so many people fighting so hard for the status quo. It is so good that our government pays billions of dollars to hospitals for the people that line the emergency rooms, because they do not have health insurance. I am so proud that we all want to have our insurance premiums increased another 95% over the next five years, as hospitals have to charge more to cover the expenses of those that cannot pay and never will pay. So yes let us stop this madness of liberty for individuals and freedom of healthcare. Those poor people do not have the right to go to the doctor when the illness begins, but must wait until near death to go to the emergency room. If the poor people went to the doctor, who would spread N1H1? I like paying more taxes to continue to cover the poor in the emergency room and paying more for everything at the hospital and cutting 46 million people from having an equal quality of life. If you can not afford it die.

As someone who experienced my dying mother kicked out of a hospital just because it was the last Friday of the month (she died 5 days later), it’s obvious the current for-profit heatlh care system does not take care of “grandma” very well at all. The current health care system is killing our grandmas, in fact. The for-profit health insurance companies force hospitals to do things like kicking dying grandmothers out on the last Friday of the month, as they did to my dying mother. And she was one of the lucky ones who had “good insurance” in addition to Medicare. Just think how they treat the uninsured — emergency rooms today refer to elderly patients as “GOMER” which stands for “Get out of my Emergency Room” and just die already. Do you think insurance companies have anything in mind besides the bottom line, their profits, their shareholders’ profits? Under SEC regulations they are required to maximize profits to shareholders, which they do by DENYING health care to as many patients as possible!
Of course in reality, Grandma is much better taken care of in a public system.

In Manitoba for example the current government was elected – and the previous government tossed – purely on the “hallway medicine” issue.

Simply put, old people VOTE, far more than younger adults. Like in the U.S., when you hear about a 55% voter turn-out, you can be certain that senior citizens were greatly over-represented. Politicians know better than to upset seniors, and so Grandma’s health care is well-protected.

Sometime I think I would feel more free if I had the option to go to the doctor(I am not insured and can’t afford it) and sometimes I think if I did get a better job that had insurance I would like to be insured for my asthma but that is a pre-existing condition but then I realize that I would rather have my freedom.
Having just returned from another international trip of several weeks, I can say conclusively that most of the civilized world has UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE and is amazed at the ignorance of those in the USA who don’t want it. You’re against single payer and a public option, but the leaders who tell you we can’t afford medicare for all has a public option. You’re saying a public option will kill grandma and no to government-control health care, but grandma is on medicare and the troops you support? The V.A.? Is single payer health care.
